The Forest Extension Institute (SKI) in Norway, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and PERL recently received approval from Nordplus to carry out a project in the Nordic-Baltic region on education for sustainable development.
The project aims to combine the Forest Extension Institute’s expertise as an international coordinator of the environmental education programme “Learning about Forests” (LEAF) with PERL’s pedagogy and teaching expertise with the ‘Images and Objects’ active learning methodology.
The project will develop a new Images and Objects toolkit on the theme of climate change and forests. PERL partner, Sjøfn Gudmundsdottir from the Icelandic Society for Life-skill Teachers will be involved in the project and will help local partners in Nordic-Baltic countries.
The project is designed to coincide with 2011 being the International Year of Forests.
