The purpose of the Marrakech Process is to work towards a 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production, as called for by the World Summit on Sustainable Development Johannesburg Plan of Action.

PERL has been participating in the Marrakech Process with the support of UNEP, UNESCO and the Marrakech Process Task Forces on Education for Sustainable Consumption (led by Italy) and on Sustainable Lifestyles (led by Sweden).

PERL participated at the UNECE Regional Implementation Meeting in Geneva in December 2010 as an input to the agenda at CSD 18.
