The Partnership for Education and Research about Responsible Living
PERL is a partnership of educators and researchers from over 120 institutions in more than 50 countries–working to empower citizens to live responsible and sustainable lifestyles.
PERL aims to advance education for responsible living by focusing on consumer citizenship, education for sustainable consumption, social innovation and sustainable lifestyles.
PERL partners undertake research and debate, and develop teaching methods and materials.
PERL is working with a number of organisations and through a number of processes. A range of organisations also fund and support PERL–just look at the logos (and click on them)!

The Partnership for Education and Research about Responsible Living” (PERL) invites you to share your ideas about a sustainable lifestyle beyond consumption with academics and political decision makers worldwide! The deadline for submission is 15 January 2012.
Students are invited to make a 60 seconds video about sustainable / responsible living.This video competition is opened to full or part time students of all ages who are attending Secondary, Further or Higher Education at the time of submitting their entry

Partners in the PERL work group, Active Learning Methodologies, have created a Training Manual for teacher training seminars. The Training Manual builds on practical experience from a number of different countries and is intended as an aid to other teacher trainers. It is interdisciplinary and is a contribution to the U.N. Decade on Education for Sustainable Development.
An enthusiastic and creative second PERL think tank was held at UNESCO in Paris on October 12-13, 2011.
An overview of projects and initiatives about education and research about responsible living lead by Hedmark University College (1996-2011) has been made available.
Close cooperation with national governments in their efforts to develop consumer citizenship education is an important part of PERLs work. August 23, 2011PERL assisted in the establishing of a new national advisory board for consumer education in Norway.
Miriam O'Donoghue, of the City of Dublin VEC, Curriculum Development Unit, is the recipient of the 2011 Tower Person Award for Consumer Educators.
